Evaluation

Outline of the task

We were assigned a task that required us to film a variety of types of shots, such as an Extra Long Shot or a Big Close Up, and edit them together effectively. We had 11 shots to collect and there were specific criteria for each one; these critera enabled us to understand the differences and effects each shot has in relation to other shots. The shots we had to collect were:
  • Extreme Long Shot
  • Extra Long Shot
  • Long Shot
  • Medium Long Shot
  • Medium Shot
  • Medium Close Up
  • Close Up
  • Big Close Up
  • Extreme Close Up
  • High Angle
  • Low Angle
What went well?
The actual filming of each shot seemed to go smoothly, I was able to grasp the concept of each shot quite well  and notice the differences between each one which allowed me to get good quality shots in the end. It allowed me to develop my photography/filming skills and I now feel more confident in establishing which shots work best for a certain situation. I also had to take into account lighting and my surroundings in each shot so it gave me a chance to use my critical eye and decide which shots worked and which ones didn't. Furthermore during the editing process, inserting titles and transitions into my work was a relatively easy task - especially since I've never used editing software before - and getting to grips with the software itself is cruical to this course and I now feel like I could create more small clips and increase my skills in this area with future tasks.

What could've been improved?

I didn't use an actual camera as I didn't have access to one in the time frame I had, I was using my phone camera which wasn't as high a quality as I could've used. I will now have to get to grips with using the actual camera and defining my skills using it which could be a challenge.

Rhiann's Shots - Final Cut

Over the past few lessons, we have been working on creating our own shots and editing them together to make a small clip; here are the finished shots that I've taken and edited using Premiere CS6!

Welcome to my AS Media Blog!

This is where I will be posting all my work, completed projects and research, as well as accounts from every lesson so I can document what I've learned over the course. I hope you enjoy the work that I post!
